Although the Bible is a book offering the good news of salvation from sin, it is also a book that presents the bad news of condemnation for sin. Because "All have sinned and have short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). Such is the future of every individual born into the world, yet it is in the light of this dreadful future that Paul proclaims in Romans 8 the unspeakably wonderful truth that in Christ Jesus there is freedom from judgment.
