As Jesus approached Jerusalem accompanied by the praises of the people, they all thought He was offering the opportunity to get rid of the Roman invaders and reestablish the Davidic kingdom. But the normal manner in which a king entered a city was on a horse as the victorious conqueror. Here Jesus was riding on a young donkey as a diplomat would with terms of peace. As we consider the King's offer of peace we see that Jesus came to provide real peace - God's peace.
